5 Great Reasons To Love Absolute Classic Rock on iTunes
I've been listening to Absolute Classic Rock on iTunes for a while now, but lately I've been using it as my day-to-day background music. I'm a big fan of classic rock anyway so it's not such a stretch that I would gravitate to this station. However, there are a few things that make it great listening for those of us in the U.S.A.
They are 5 hours ahead of usWhen I am listening to them as I work, I catch the drivetime shows and then the evening shows. In the evening they play such a great mix of frequently played mixed with songs you don't hear everyday. I really like that. British accents are just appealing
I don't know why it is, but people in America (me included) find the British accent very listenable. So the announcers, both the DJ and the news, are great to listening - even if it's only background I really could care less about Cricket
The news and sports inserts are always about Cricket or Soccer and I really could care less about Cricket and don't follow British Soccer so the news and sports bits don't distract me. I simply listen to the accents (see above). I think they spent a week on Lawn Bowling, but I have no idea. I guess they wouldn't really understand American football and why Georgia Tech is an overrated, gimmick-play team. Production is very well done
Lots of iTunes stations are really hard to listen to. They broadcast such a compressed, tin-sounding feed. A.C.R. sounds great. They do long stretches of commercial-free music which is great and when they do their commercial time, the commercials are all British (see accent above). Variety
I mentioned this above, but I can't say it enough. Their rotation is very good throughout the day. Sure you might hear Kashmir a couple of times during the week, or some Who, but on the other hand you also get lots of other artists mixed in from lots of different eras. It's not all about rock from the 60's and 70's. It's about great rock. There you go, great reasons to check them out. Go ahead, fire up iTunes or go to http://www.absoluteradio.co.uk
